Kasny Recon, a business that cares for the people
We endeavor to develop the capacity of people with whom we do business through:
- Information sharing and technology transfer ( to date, KR trained 300 women belonging to 15 cooperatives in Southern Chad in various value added processing of shea butter)
- Education ( KR is planning to launch 15 adult literacy program in our area of action in Chad)
- Socioeconomic development (every year KR empowers 20 women in Chad through provision of small grants)
- KR organizes every year a workshop aimed at creating a broad participation of local communities in the shea butter sector while focusing on poverty reduction development in rural areas.

We consider ourselves the primary stewards of Nature’s Treasures. Three specific set of activities allows the company to practice this aspect of its principle.
Protection
The company's protection program, aims at the protection of natural resources we utilize in our business. Together with the local communities, KR seeks to identify natural and manmade threats against natural resources we depend on for our business. In Chad KR protection program builds local capacity to effectively educate, inform the public about the benefits of valuable resources such as shea tree and other forestry resources. The program brings forestry experts treat and provide advice on pests and diseases that attack the trees and conduct disease and bush fires prevention campaigns.
Regeneration
The company's regeneration’s program, aims at the regeneration of natural resources we utilize in our business. The company provides technical support and finances community-based nursery development and reforestation campaigns in the areas of our activities. The company's goal is to plant one thousand shea tress and other forestry species per year. We consider our duty to preserve the biological diversity of the natural resources we utilize today so that future generations will enjoy their benefits as well.
Sustainable Harvest
The company's sustainable harvest program aims at promoting judicious harvest that ensures sustainability of the resources. The company works with local community to adhere to the same sustainability principles as they determine whether or not we do business with a community. |

Kasny Recon Community Resource Center Initiative
The company is working to finance community-owned centers to protect and enhance the livelihoods. The community centers will be equipped with means of production (draught-animals, ploughs etc), seeds, means of transportation (carts, wheelbarrows), and post harvest management (efficient storage, seed banks etc).
